In one sentence
BTCMobick (Mobick, BMB) is a proof-of-work blockchain that forked from Bitcoin on 3 January 2019, and an experiment in giving a coin value by handing it out instead of selling it. It was conceived by the writer Oh Taemin and is run by Otaverse Inc. The official site is mobick.io and the official YouTube channel is “Oh Taemin’s BTCMobick.”
The name
It started as GNC (Good Node Coin) and was renamed Mobick in early 2023 — Mobile plus Moby-Dick. Captain Ahab sailed from New Bedford, Massachusetts; Mobick’s 2026 mainnet upgrade is named “New Bedford,” and its long-planned experiment is called “whale hunting.” The story runs through the names.

Same as Bitcoin, and different
The same: the ledger and its rules — blocks, hashes, proof of work, keys and addresses, UTXOs, the 21 million cap. Mobick’s first chain inherited Bitcoin’s history through 3 January 2019; since the 2026 New Bedford upgrade, today’s mainnet is a fresh chain into which Mobick users’ balances were moved.
Different, in three ways:
- How coins were distributed — Bitcoin’s first coins went to miners. Mobick’s operators held the coins and gave them to people who paid their own costs to come: a book, Gwanaksan, Gyeryongsan, Hallasan, LA, Australia.
- A private chain — mining is run by the operators for now, and new coins go to the public-goods wallets. Opening up to everyone is the stated direction, but no date is set.
- Two tracks — mainnet BMB is the mined base asset and the measure of supply; programs such as interest, trading and smart contracts run on an EVM chain through WBMB. In the 19 September 2026 live stream: “supply and mining in BMB, everyday trading in WBMB.”
A three-stage roadmap
- Making money (done) — a coin given away without investment that trades P2P above one dollar. Success was declared on 24 December 2025.
- Enterprise blockchain (in progress) — running real businesses on a chain that has value. On 26 September 2026, Mobick said it would run businesses itself, with mining, education and finance as its three pillars.
- Whale hunting (planned) — asking dormant Bitcoin holders to prove they are alive by signature. No date yet.

Summary
- Mobick is a proof-of-work chain that forked from Bitcoin on 3 January 2019.
- It was given away, not sold; the founder holds nothing personally and most coins are public goods.
- It is a private chain today, with two tracks: mainnet BMB (the base) and EVM WBMB (programs).
- Roadmap: making money (done) → enterprise blockchain (in progress) → whale hunting (planned).
Latest notices for this lesson
Policies change often. Where the lesson and a notice differ, the notice — the latest live stream — wins.
WBMB is consolidating on BSC
WBMB was issued on both BSC and Base, but the final direction is BSC and the Base side will be wound down later. Today all Uniswap pools and MobickOne swaps run on BSC. If you hold tokens on Base, wait for official instructions before moving them.
Revisions3
| C | 2026.10.08 | Confirmed all public liquidity sits in BSC Uniswap pools (WBMB/MOVN, MOVN/USDT). The final choice of BSC comes from the operators and has not yet been stated in a public live stream. GeckoTerminal · BSC pools ↗ |
| B | 2026.09.19 | The live stream restated the two-track design: mainnet BMB is the mined base asset and the measure of supply; programs such as interest, trading and smart contracts run on EVM through WBMB. Live (Korean) 1:18:33 ↗ |
| A | 2026.02.28 | Future listings and airdrops will use EVM tokens that swap 1:1 with BMB (the WBMB family) rather than mainnet BMB, issued on both Coinbase's Base chain and BNB Chain. Live 1:30:24 ↗ |
Going public — no date has been set
Mobick is currently a private chain whose mining is run by the operators. Going public — a chain anyone can mine — is the stated direction, but there is no date. The latest live stream said going public may wait longer if home mining revives the ecosystem, and set out a "last line of defence": if Oh Taemin can no longer lead, the chain goes public at once and most public-goods coins are burned.
Revisions4
| D | 2026.09.19 | Going public is inevitable, but may be delayed if mining revives the ecosystem. If Oh can no longer lead: nodes open at once, most of the ~16M public-goods coins are burned, and part is airdropped to Australia lock-up, Miracle of 2 Mo and Miracle of 10 Mo participants. | C | 2026.08.20 | In a members-only stream, described as 'a line of thought, nothing decided': going public makes sense at a 1.5625 BMB block reward (the natural halving is in 2030), and because the chain is private the halving could be brought forward — perhaps around June 2028. -
Q1How were Mobick’s first coins distributed?
Mobick never raised outside investment or sold coins. It began by giving coins to people who came — through a book, up mountains, across oceans.
-
Q2What is the “Mo” in the 2-Mo Miracle?
Mo is another name for counting BMB. 2 Mo is 2 BMB. One hundred-millionth of a BMB is a bick.
-
Q3In the “two tracks” described in September 2026, what is mainnet BMB’s role?
The PoW mainnet stays as the mined base and the measure of supply; programs like interest, trading and smart contracts run on EVM via WBMB. Some suggested abandoning the mainnet; it stays.
