EVM chains — BSC and Base, one address, separate ledgers

What is the EVM?

The EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine) is how Ethereum runs smart contracts. Many chains use the same machine; they are called EVM chains. Three matter for Mobick:

One MetaMask wallet can use all of them; just switch the network at the top.

One key, two addresses

A private key is ultimately one big number. Change only the recipe and the same number gives a Bitcoin-style address (bc1…) or an Ethereum-style address (0x…).

One number, two recipes, two kinds of address. A 0x address looks the same on every EVM chain, so the same address exists on BSC and Base — which is why picking the chain matters. Real wallets usually derive a different key per chain.

One consequence matters a lot: a 0x address is the same on every EVM chain. Your MetaMask address exists on BSC, Base and Ethereum alike, but each chain keeps its own ledger. WBMB received on BSC is only in BSC’s ledger; if someone sends to the same address on Base, it lands in Base’s.

Gas

On EVM chains every transfer or swap pays gas in that chain’s coin: BNB on BSC, ETH on Base and Ethereum. However much WBMB you hold, with zero BNB you cannot move it. Keep a little BNB alongside. Mobick mainnet fees are paid in BMB.

Why consolidate on BSC

WBMB was issued on both Base and BSC (28 February 2026). SBMB, issued by a community team, followed the same path; it is covered separately in the SBMB lesson. Today all public liquidity is in BSC Uniswap pools, and MobickOne’s BMB swaps run on BSC only. The direction is BSC; Base will be wound down later. Wait for official guidance on when and how.
